Um Qais: a spectacular site from the Greek-Roman time Gedara north of Jordan. Ajloun: a short distance west from Jerash through pine forests and olive groves, lies the town of Ajloun.

Um Qais: home of several poets and philosophers, and the place where Jesus cast out the devil from two men into a herd of pigs (Matthew 8: 28-34).

Ajloun: on an imposing mountain atop Qala’at Al-Rabad (the Castle of Ajloun), a remarkable 12th century castle sits in glorious splendor. It was built in AD 1184 by Izz-el-Din Osama, whose cousin, Salah el-Din, defeated the Crusaders in AD 1189.

  • Visit Um Qais (approximately two-hour drive)
  • Continue to Ajloun to visit the historical Castle (approximately one-hour-and-a-half drive and a one-hour visit)
