Amman: originally over seven hills, Amman now covers at least 19 hills. It is a delightful mixture of old and new, often referred to as the “White City,” in reference to the white stones used in construction of the buildings. Amman is a busy commercial and administrative center with many modern amenities.
The modern and ancient capital of Jordan formerly known in history as Rabbath-‘Ammon, was once the capital city of the Ammonites and later became the Graeco-Roman City of Philadelphia, one of the Decapolis cities.
